Check Out Our Amazing ‘Summer Time’ Prices
Friday, August 12th, 20113D Printed Aircraft
Friday, August 12th, 2011The University of Southampton have created the worlds first aeroplane entirely from 3D printed parts. The engineers, Andy Keane and Jim Scanlan, have now successfully completed a test run of their UAV which managed to reach nearly 100mph! Watch the video below to see the plane in action.
The advantages of the parts for the plane being 3D printed are numeuous, doing so reduces the cost, reduces the construction time, allows changes to be made a lot easier and a lot speedier, it makes creating much more complicated and intricate designs possible and I imagine that it makes the whole process a lot easier.
The advances in 3D printing could revolutionise the way planes and other mechanical objects are created.

Monday, October 18th, 2010
Here at www.hpprintercartridges.co.uk we are trying to make helping the environment that tiny bit easier. To do so we have set up a cartridge recycling project that allows you, the customer, to not only help save the planet, but also save some money in the process. Taking part is simple, just go to our empties page to see how much we pay for empty ink cartridges, if your cartridge isn’t on this list then you can still contact us as we may still buy your cartridge. Then once you know how much your cartridge is worth you can request a free post bag or just send in your cartridges. Then you can either redeem what the cartridge is worth from your next order or have a cheque sent to you if your cartridge is worth more than £10.00.
If you wish to know more about our recycling project, don’t hesitate to email us at enquiries@hpprintercartridges.co.uk.
Canon Pixma: Bringing Colour To Life (Amazing)
Monday, October 18th, 2010
Ink cartridges aren’t exactly the most exiting nor beautiful objects in the world, but the big ink companies like HP and Canon sometimes have to make their products look just as good as they can. And Canon have done this very well with their latest campaign for the Canon PIXMA Range, they worked with Dentsu and photographer Linden Gledhill to create a very artistic campaign. They used ink and a speaker with a membrane over it to create these awesome ink sculptures.
Check out the videos below to see just how they filmed this and to see the final product.

This Printer Is Made Entirely Of Lego
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010After seeing this video, I can safely confirm that you can probably make anything with Lego. Well maybe not anything, but at least we know that it’s possible to build a printer from Lego.
This amazing project took a member member of the B3ta forums about three weeks to complete, and he’s basically used Lego and a felt tip to create a fully functioning (monochrome) printer. Take a look:
This is probably one of the funnest printers I’ve ever seen, just genius.
The Iron Man 2 Suit Printed With 3D Printer
Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010Some have you may have seen the new Iron Man film in the cinema, it was a great film and it wouldn’t be possible without Legacy Effects, the production team for the Iron Man 2 film.
One of the things I didn’t know until today is that Legacy Effects used an Objet Geometries 3D printer to create some of the parts of the physical Iron Man suit. The Iron man Gloves are one of the parts printed using the Objet printer. All parts that were made were perfectly adapted to the actors that had to wear them after the actors’ bodies were scanned for the perfect fit.
Legacy Effects bought the 3D printer for $114,000 after having used one when creating the suit from the xbox 360s’ halo ad. campaign.
Kite Like Turbine Uses The Sea To Generate Power
Monday, May 24th, 2010Minesto, a company from Northern Ireland have developed underwater turbines that may be ideal for generating power while still being hidden from view. The design has investors with more than 2 million euros going into the project and testing of the devices will begin next year.
The turbines basically like kites, they are attached by a cable to the sea bed allowing the turbines to move in whichever direction the water is moving in, and the 12m propellers generate the power.
Another great enviromentally friendly invention, lets hope something does come from the project.
Carving The Worlds Smallest World
Friday, May 7th, 2010IBM have carved a 3D map of the earth using a new nanometer-scale silicon milling machine they have developed. I suppose it’s not really printing as what this device is doing is actually carving away particles but still its extremely interesting.
The map that measures 22×11 micrometers and that took 2 mintutes and 23 seconds to make, would fit 1000 times on a single grain of salt. The nanomill used to make it uses heat and pressure to carve with extreme acurracy.
They also created a scale 3D model of the Matterhorn mountain, heres a video for more information:
